Built to stay quiet and stay put
Vinyl stairs usually fail one of two ways: the nosing lifts from weak adhesion, or an unprepared tread starts squeaking under every step. We use polyurethane construction adhesive along with mechanical fasteners hidden behind the nosing, and we skim-coat and level every tread before the plank goes down. Modern LVP stair treads are embossed with a low-slip micro-texture built for stair use - it grips better than polyurethaned hardwood and performs similarly to commercial-grade LVT.
Yes. We pull the carpet, pad, staples, and tack strip, then check the treads underneath. Solid wood treads just need a quick leveling pass; particleboard or damaged treads get replaced before the plank goes down.
Not with a proper install. We re-secure every tread and add construction adhesive before the plank goes on, which typically makes the staircase quieter than it was before.
With a nosing that matches the tread - either a factory piece from the LVP manufacturer or one we custom-mill from the same plank in-house. We don't use a generic aluminum strip.
